I'm new to Ham Radio es still in learn mode. I only wrk CW es would like
to boost my power vry slightly for the difficult QSOs. I hv two options
that I am considering so would appreciate all ideas es suggestions.
Option 1: Purchase an Centurion from Ten-Tec. This is my preferred option
but would necessitate adding a difficult (if not impossible) circuit to the
shack.
Option 2: I hv an opportunity to purchase an Ameritron 811H but am not sure
it will be compatible with my Orion. The Orion Manual shows a connection
from the Orion's "amp key" to the amps "key input" connection. An 811H Amp
does not have a "key input" connection but does hv a "relay" connection
which might be what is needed. The Orion does not hv an ALC connection
and the 811H does. Also Ameritron offers an ARB-704 "amp-to-radio interface"
which could be needed for this hookup??? I realize this amp is not QSK.
I'm hoping someone has made the connection from Orion to 811H and would
share their thoughts.
