Well Nuts...glad I didn't say anything too nasty...the reply to sender
only put it back on the reflector...Sorry to all...it's just the
ramblings of an aging CW guy....73

Rob,
I beg to differ with you...and notice that this is a private reply. I
have no wish to start a great debate. I believe occupying 6 khz of
bandwidth when three is sufficient to transfer the info is a waste.
Having said that, I appreciate the quest for quality and the bottom
line is, it probably makes no difference in the overall availabilty of
spectrum for ham use, so go to it. Of course if I follow my own line
of reasoning SSb is not necessary either...any number of digital
modes, including CW will transfer the info. I gave up SSB on the hf
bands long ago because the language and other foolishness going on
were offensive to me. I guess that should disqualify me from making
any comments about the mode anyhow. Feel free to ignore them. :-D .

This same situation certainly exists concerning enhanced SSB audio.
I am certain the cranks who bash it have never heard a decent
sounding station on a rx with a freq. response of say, 20 hz to 6 Khz
and a similarly adequate speaker. I bet after one week of decent
audio they would all find traditional utility grade ssb unuseable.
