Mario,

We did check receiver performance on the higher bands after
midnight local time. There was no indication of broadcast
stations breaking through. However we only did that on the beam
antenna. We did not hang the huge horizontal loop on the rig and
try it. Great idea. Too bad I didn't think of it at the time.
I will have that checked by Dieter, next time he operates from
our mountain QTH.

KD7EFQ> Not that the Omni is bad, it's just communications grade
audio.
The fuller and richer the audio (While staying 2.8Kc's wide or
less, not
3-4kc's wide like the Wi-Fi SSB spectrum hogs) the easier it is
for me to
understand the weak ones.

SSB speech should be DISTORTED by bandwidth limiting and then
applying 6 dB
preemphasis above 500 Hz and some 20 dB compression for the best
understanding of weak signals. Orion certainly has a RICH TX
spectrum with
artificial DSP components added between two audio test signals.

DJ0IP had limited time for BCC evaluation of Orion and I wonder
if he had a
chance to check IP2 products during the night on dead higher
bands?
There are no negatives in ON4UN Orion test report! I support
G3JAG KISS
statement including the last S :-)
