Hi all.

Just my two cents on the stainless antenna.

As mentioned many times elsewhere, the stainless is a
relatively poor conductor, and thus will introduce resistive loss
in the antenna.  This changes the complex impedance too; this may
or may not be significant.

I can't see any reason for accepting this additional loss.  Its easy to get
many types of copper wire with excellent insulation.  Combinations of
teflon and other materials are available.  Surely these would last a very
long time, even in a hostile environment.

B&W manufactures a line of broadband folded dipoles that use stainless steel
wire.   At around $300 each, they are primarily sold to the military and
other government agencies or users in very harsh environments.

You can find them in the HRO Summer 2002 catalog on page 93.
