Mark,

I have two 1208 transverters and both seem to hear extremely well when used
with my OMNI 6+ xcvr, However, my antenna is tuned for 6 mtrs and is a 5
element 6 meter beam at 45 feet. I would suggest that you get a 6 meter
antenna , horizontally polarized and llisten between 50.100 & 50.200. The
national calling freq on 6 mtr SSB is 50.125. I can not imagine how a 160
meter antenna is resonant on 50 mhz, even with an antenna tuner, that seems
to be pushing it.

As far as the foreign (broadcast) stations that you mention hearing, it
sounds to me like feed through from the HF "IF" in the pegasus. In other
words, remember that the 1208 is really designed to operate from 50.000 to
50.500 mhz, using 20 meters 14.000 mhz - 14.500 mhz as the driver and
receiver IF. If you were tuning your Pegasus receiver to 15 Mhz, trying to
receive 51 Mhz thru the transverter, you were probably hearing a broadcast
station on 15 mhz feeding thru the receiver converter in the 1208.

BTW, 6 was wide open from the midwest throughout the day and I worked my
first JA stations on 6 after 35+ years of 6 meter hamming !!!!

Bottom line, get up a 6 meter beam !!!!

73 and welcome to 6 mtrs and have fun, Happy New Year,
