For some time, the Kachina Net has met on Saturday mornings to discuss and
share information about the Kachina 505DSP radio. The 505 was the first
amateur radio transceiver built around a digital DSP "core." It was
followed by the Tentec Pegasus and later the Jupiter. Other digital radios
have come on the market and are in wide use.
The Kachina 505DSP was taken out of production several months ago and as
the number of new owners starting dropping off, so did Net attendance. Bob
Hughes, W7SNR, our Net Control felt that a new format and scope for the Net
was needed. The result is the Digital Radio Net which meets each Saturday
morning at 1530Z on 14,280.
The Digital Radio Net is for the purpose of exchanging information on
digital radio technology as it applies to amateur radio. General topics of
interest are digital radio architecture, design and performance; computer
and remote control of digital radios; and digital communication modes of
operation.
The Net is open to users of all makes and models of digital radios. The Net
solicits any station with information or comments that will be of interest
to the net participants. From time to time the Net will feature a topic of
special interest that will be presented by a Net participant or special
guest.
Please note that the Net does not focus on any particular make or model of
digital radio. All interested amateurs are invited to join us.
