Hello John,
Unfortunately I can not answer your question as I do not do much, if
any, CW right now. I have purchased a very good straight key (I never liked
keyers) but have not yet used it much.
The Omni VI Plus with the appropriate filters would probably be a better
CW rig BUT this is only a speculation. The Jupiter is very versatile and
since it is a "software defined radio" new features can be, and have been,
added just by downloading FREE updates from Ten-Tec! Try that with a
"regular" radio! I also enjoy doing much SWL and AM broadcast band DX
and/or just listening. The Jupiter has an excellent general coverage
receiver AND as an added benefit can be operated under computer control like
the Pegasus. I use my Jupiter by itself as a transceiver but when I want to
use it as a general coverage receiver I run it under computer control with
the EXCELLENT N4PY software. Carl, N4PY, has written some excellent
programs and I am glad to be one of his customers. I hope that this does
not sound like a "plug" for Carl's programs because it IS!
I am sure that there are many others on the reflector who will be better
able to answer your question(s) from the perspective of a CW operator. I
hope I was able to help somewhat however. 73's BILL
