I don't remember if this was mentioned here. When setting the reference
oscillator to 10 mHz, I could not get it to stabilize. After turning the
trimmer through its rotation several times, it set up nicely.
Age/dirt/dust must have combined to dirty up the trimmer. All of the
band crystals and the reference oscillator can be tweaked up quite
easily (once you get to the circuit board in question, hee-hee), but you
must have a reliable and accurate frequency standard.
