This is true. That just is probably the problem.
I do have an Icom 751A that will run just fine off a 12 volt car
battery. That does not mean they all will. I read someplace, once,
that Icom made a production change. Many people could not understand
why the radio did not work when they turned off the charging source.
I do not know what serial number that would have been with. What
this means is that some of the 751A's will probably not work correct
at a mere 12 volts.
I would check with Ten-Tec and ask. One might even be able to make a
mod.
I do have an old 751. Want to bet it will not work at 12 volts?
Works fine at 13.8 though.
