Paul may be correct about an Omni VI+. And if that's what you have, I'd be
inclined to listen to him.
I have two Omni VI's: one upgraded to a plus with option 3; the other a
straight VI.
My manual's Low Pass Filter Board Schematic (81592), Figure 4-4, page 4-7
(May 1992), shows relays for the lowpass filters (2 relays for each filter)
and a transmit relay feeding the LP filter output to the antenna.
Maybe the removal of the relays was a feature of the VI+ that is not part of
the option 3 upgrade.
