Goodness! There must have been some misunderstanding between you
and Paul because he surely knows that there are a number of relays
in the OMNI 6+. Look at the schematic of the low pass filter
board (Figure 4-4 in the manual) and you will see no less than 13
relays including the T/R switch (K1). There are a couple more
relays lurking around on other circuit boards, though those are
not likely the cause of your problem. Also, when you key the rig,
don't you hear relays clicking? They are all reed relays which are
fairly quiet but still clearly audible. Could the problem be with
your external coax relay? Sure, it could be anywhere that causes
an impedance problem between your antenna and your tx/rx
circuitry. It could even be as simple as a loose or dirty coax
connector.
