I seem to recall that the Omni VI+ has 6 volts lamps which work with a
dimmer, typically at 5V. The power supply (Tentec) outputs 13.8. Yes,
14 volt lamps are the correct choice for a 13.8V supply. Be advised
that lamps such as the old standby #47 can be purchased as #1847. The
#47 lamps have a rated life of 5000 hours while the #1847 lamps have a
rated life of 20,000 hours.
If you are interested in long life lamps, choose a circuit which uses a
5V lamp with 5V applied as opposed to a circuit which uses a 24V lamp
with 24V supplied. The long filament in a high voltage lamp is subject
to mechanical shock and subsequent early failure. Also, lamps which are
supplied with AC as opposed to DC will last about 50% longer. Filament
evaporation is reduced due to polarity changes at 60Hz.
