[TenTec] info on scout side tone

hello all
        i need some info about my scout side tone. i know i can adjust the side
tone from the bottom of the chassis through the hole with a tiny phillip's
head screw driver. anyhow, when ever i set the sidetone down to a
comfortable level, the side tone moves back up to a head splitting level.
the sidetone does not stay locked down. anyone know how to fix this. i'm
running out of advil for my headache
