Amplified microphones came to CB because the FCC rules required prevention of over modulation and CB makers responded by keeping the audio gain within the radios so low as to prevent effective modulation. An AM radio modulated on 30% peak has a short range, far shorter than it should when fully modulated. 73, Jerry, K0CQ -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/tentecfaq.htm Submissions: tentec@contesting.com Administrative requests: tentec-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-tentec@contesting.com Search: http://www.contesting.com/km9p/search.htm |
