Thanks Larry, I wish the band conditions hadn't cut it short.
I didn't expect to see a message directed to me on the reflector, but I
mentioned to Larry during our QSO on 40 CW that I had been lurking around a
while trying to absorb all I could about the Pegasus. Most of the questions
I've had have been covered here, and based on my reading and a couple of
QSO's with N4LQ, I'm going to order one next week.
Speaking of mods, I've already made a mod to mine, and I don't even have the
rig yet. If the Kachina offers the ability to display your callsign on the
front panel, why shouldn't the Pegasus? Well it's as simple as opening
bbtrx1.exe in your friendly hex editor, searching for the hex string that
displays "Pegasus 550", and replacing the hex values to indicate your
callsign, Omni VII, etc. :-)
I really have enjoyed all of the discussions on the Pegasus. I originally
dismissed the rig and almost bought something else, but glad I was saved the
grief of buying a radio in which CW was a total afterthought.
