Hi Tom...I just bought a 1208 (used but factory assembled). I was very
disappointed to find that my Omni-VI won't work the FM part of 6m. Our ham
bands only transceiver will operate the bottom 350kc of the 6m
band(14.000-14.350). In order to operate the entire 6m band to need to tx
14 -18mz. This is fine for the rice boxes with the mars mod...but us Omni
owners are out of luck. Also..the instructions for my 1208 says not to tx
above 52mz..!! Something about the lowpass filters being out of range and
letting unwanted signals through.
The good part is the transverter works great on cw and ssb. I've had mine
for about a week or so and have been having a great time with it. It will be
for sale in a couple of months when the new 6N2 rig comes out.
Thought you might want to know
