Hi,
After almost a year of trying to buy a used 217 CW filter for
my Argosy from sellers on this list and other sources - without
success, I gave up and ordered one from Ten Tec. What did I get
for my $89? The usual great service from T-T and a darn good
cw filter. It arrived in only 5 days, all the way from Tennessee
to the northwest corner of Calif, far behind the Redwood Curtain.
On paper the specs of this 8 pole filter looked good and my experience
with it bears that out. It seems to totally outperform the 500 hz
filter in my FT890 ricebox, which by the way cost lots more money
than the 217. A totally subjective comparison without test gear,
admittedly, but the Argosy with the 217 filter is way better on
selectivity. Coupled with the built in audio filter its a real
winner.
So, if you've been thinking about a cw filter for your 525, don't
hesitate to get a new one. Its well worth the money, and I'm sure
the good folks at Ten Tec will appreciate your business.
