I hate to burst your bubble, but I believe the Omni 6+ has always had
the "New & Improved" bottom plate as you described. I put a post up a
month or so ago regarding this topic and it is indeed a great
improvement over the original Omni 6 bottom plate.
Unfortunately, this is not a part of the "option" upgrade, but I sure
would have gone for it! (Maybe a new Option 4 in the making???)
