Bernie;
I am not sure how well the R-7000 correlates with the R-7, but I used an R-7
with my Omni VI for many years with no problems. The SWR/bandwidth curves
that I plotted for my particular setup were slightly better than those in
the
Cushcraft manual, particularly on 20. I also ran 1000 watts to it much of
the time with no adverse effects (no burned traps, no melt downs, etc.).
But, like any "compromise antenna" my full-sized dipoles outperformed it
virtually 100% of the time for domestic contacts.

I apologize for being a tad off topic here, but after reading the QST review
I wondered what my Ten-Tec brothers and sisters would have to say.
Has anyone used the R-7000 vertical? I'm generally not a vertical kinda guy,
but have a need for something protable to take out in the boonies with my Boy
Scout troop (and the Omni) and am considering the R-7000.
Would welcome experiences or thoughts. Thanks.
Bernie
