local). Two QRP foxes will be hiding between 3550 and 3570 kHz. 5W
maximum power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. Work only the two
foxes (WX2S STEVE NJ and KT5E JAY CO).
2. NCCC RTTY Sprint Practice. 0200-0220Z Friday (Thurs night local).
100W maximum power. One kHz QSY rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name,
SPC. Look around 080 to 090 kHz. 20, 40, 80M RTTY.
3. NCCC NS CW Sprint Practice. 0230-0259Z Friday (Thurs night local).

Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Look around 040 kHz and 1815 kHz.
4. RSGB Commonwealth Contest. Call is "CQ BERU." Stations in the
British Commonwealth can work only other stations in the British
Commonwealth, which, of course, doesn't include the US. So, this is a
"closed" contest and participants likely won't answer you or log you, so
don't waste your time.
5. Straight Key Century Club Weekend Sprintathon (WES). 1200Z Sat to
2400Z Sun. 160-6M CW. Use a mechanical key. Exchange: RST, Name,
SPC, SKCC# or "NONE." Look around 050 kHz and 1810 kHz.
6. QRPARCI Grid Square Sprint. 1500-1800Z Sat. 160-10M CW. Exchange:
RST + grid square + ARCI# or power.
7. Tesla Memorial HF CW Contest. 18Z Sat to 0759Z Sun. 80M CW only.
Exchange: RST + serial # + 4 character grid square.
8. Idaho QSO Party. 1900Z Sat to 1900Z Sun. All except WARC bands.
DW, Ph, Dig. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC or ID county. Note that W1AW/7
stations are QRV from Idaho this week.
9. NCJ NA Sprint RTTY. 0000-0400Z Sun (Sat night local). 20, 40, 80M
RTTY. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. 1-5 kHz QSY rules. There is
a team competition, which consists of teams from two to ten members. If
anyone wants me to register a SECC team for this one, please let me know
ASAP and I will register before the start of the Sprinit.
10. NSARA Contest (Nova Scotia). 1100-1500Z, 1700-1200Z Sun. 80 M CW,
SSB, Digital. Exchange: RST+ SPC or NS County. Our only chance at
this one would be at the very beginning of the first contest period.
11. Wisconsin QSO Party. 1800Z Sun to 0100Z Mon. All except WARC
bands. CW, Phone. Exchange: SPC or WI county.
12. 40M QRP Fox Hunt Tuesday night. Same rules as for 80M on Thursday
except frequencies are 7030 to 7050 and the two foxes are KT5E JAY CO
and N0UR JIM MN.
13. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Wednesday local date. Three separate
one hour mini tests. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z. 160-10M CW. Exchange: Name
+ CWOps # or SPC. Look around 028-038 kHz on each band plus 1815 kHz.
Don't forget to turn your clocks forward one hour Saturday night since
we officially go to Daylight time at 0200 EST Sunday. This means that
UTC will be four hours ahead of EDT instead of five hours ahead of EST.
So change your local times, but do not change UTC time in your logging
computers.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. The bands
have been in pretty good shape for the past week or so.
Finally, in case anyone missed the news, we had two big Silent Key
announcements this week: Nancy, WZ8C of FISTS Club fame (and formerly
editor of World Radio) and Mark, W4SVO, of South FL, SECC, and the NQ4I
contest team. Anyone who would like to contribute to a WRTC event
memorial for Mark should contact Jay, N4OX.
73, John, K4BAI.
