My time in contests was limited by the death Wednesday of one of my
wife's first cousins with a memorial service on Saturday and relatives
visiting for the weekend. Nevertheless, I hope I contributed a little
to a few contests and did work four all-time new counties in the KYQP.

Contests this week:

1. QRP Fox Hunts started last night on 80M and will continue Thursday
night on 40M. They run 0200 to 0330Z and on 80M two foxes will be
between 3550 and 3570 and on 40M two foxes will be between 7030 and
7050. I will be one of the 40M foxes tomorrow night. Hope skip will be
short so QSOs with members will be possible. Only stations running 5W
or less count. Exchange is: RST, Name, SPC, power. Work only the two
foxes in each hunt. Most foxes will start off split and change to
simplex when the pileups go down.

2. Thursday and Friday of this week, we should have NCCC Phone SS
Practice Sessions. A good time to check out your DVK and logging
programs before the contest starts Saturday. 0230 to 0259Z. Note that
the UTC time did not change this year when daylight time went out, so
the practices are being held an hour earlier than before on local time.
Exchange and power limits same as regular SS. 160-10M SSB.

3. Thursday night SNS NA Sprint Practice. I believe this will still be
on 80, 40, and 20M. Friday UTC 0200-0215Z. Exchange: Both calls, #,
name, SPC. Dupes OK after band change or one intervening QSO. 1 and 5
kHz QSY rules.

4. Mongolian (JT) Ham Radio 50th Anniversary Contest. 24 hours of
Saturday UTC. 160-10M, CW/SSB/. Exchange: RS(T) + QSO # or "50" for
JT stations. Work everyone.

5. All Austria 160M Contest. 16Z Sat to 07Z Sun. 160M CW. Exchange:
RST + Serial # (+ OE District Code). I think you can work everyone in
this contest.

6. RSGB Second 160M Contest, CW. 21Z Sat to 01Z Sun. 160 M CW.
Exchange: RST + Serial # (+ UK District Code). I think you can work
only UK stations in this one.

7. ARRL Sweepstakes Contest, Phone. 21Z Sat to 03Z Sun. 160-10M SSB.
  Exchange: #, Prec (Q, A, B, U, M, S), Call, Check (last two digits of
year first licensed), ARRL or RAC section. Club competition.

8. Flying Pigs QRP Club Run for the Bacon: 02-04Z Monday (Sunday night
local). 160-10M CW. 5W maximum power. Exchange: RST + SPC + FP
member # or power.

Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs.

73,

John, K4BAI.
