Jeff,.
This is great.!!
I will get the page put up, and do some promotion on it. Look for web updates
in the next day or two.
I will get some prominent info on the home page, and include a reference in my
reminder notes to participants.

The web site has been "cleared out" getting ready for 2007 input.

Thanks SO much for all you do to keep GQP a quality event.

I will put up a note when I get it done, and you can help me spiff it up as
needed.

Wonderful!
Thanks,
Mike

Please use ne4s at iham.us or mike1230 at mcnet.us as my address.
Be well,
Thanks

Here is the text of the webpage for the GA County competition that I sent to
NE4S :
=============================================================================
2007 Georgia QSO Party Bonus Prize

The Question :

Interested in some dessert to have with that nice salmon you won in the
Washington State Salmon Run and that bottle of NCCC Private Reserve California
wine that you won in the California QSO Party ?

The Answer:

The 2007 Georgia QSO Party

Georgia as most people know is nicknamed the Peach State. Our subtropical
climate allows Georgia to rank first in the nation in the production of peanuts
and pecans. It is third in production of peaches. The smart (?) folks who run
the Georgia QSO Party want to give you an incentive to operate our QSO Party.
In exchange for your hard work we want to reward you. What better way to do
this then have a little competition and a special prize for the winner. After
all we are all contesters and nothing gets us going better that a little
competition ?

The Rules:

The competition is simple. We want to have a contest within the contest to see
who can work the most Georgia counties. Georgia has 154 counties, which is only
2nd to the state of Texas. Note the rules for this little competition are
different than the rules for the actual Georgia QSO Party, which counts
counties by mode. You get credit for each county only once. It doesn't matter
if you work it on CW or SSB. The maximum number you can get is 154. As far as
we know no one has ever worked all 154 counties during a GQP weekend. The
sponsors of the GQP are making efforts to try to get as much activity from as
many counties as we can.

Tiebreakers:

We realize there could be a tie in this competition. Listed below are the
tiebreakers.

1) 1st Tiebreaker - Higher score in GQP.

2) 2nd Tiebreaker - The higher total number of Georgia stations worked in the
GQP.

3) 3rd Tiebreaker - The higher total number of rover contacts made.

The Prizes:

The top ten W/VE stations and top 5 DX stations will recieve a gift that
reflects the agriculture products that are grown in Georgia. We have identified
some companies that provide gift baskets but have not decided on the final
prizes yet. The winners will be notified and given a choice after the contest
results are published. Also note the prizes for the 1st place winners will be
nicer then those from position 2-10. Please note that we will be limited by
USDA rules on what type of food products can be shipped outside the USA.
=============================================================================

I have gone to the Lane Packing website. They have a number of gifts under $10
that can be offered
to the 2-9 place finishers. The two first place finishers would get a nicer
gifts - like one of the $25 gift baskets. I think we could cover all this for
under $100 but any help would be appreciated.

I am wondering if this gift idea might work as far as stimulating fixed station
activity for stations located in GA. Many of the people who operate GQP might
not be hardcore contests like many of of in the SECC. They are probably not
interested much in winning a plaque.

At $50 bucks a pop for a plaque here are some alternatives that would cost
about the same :

2 tickets to a Braves game
Tickets to the Georgia Aquarium
Tickets to Callaway Gardens
Tickets to Calloway Gardens Festival of Lights
Tickets to one of the many museums in Atlanta
Tickets to one of the amusment parks - Six Flags etc...

I bet everyone could think of more to add to this list.

BTW..I have recieved emails from Gordon , K4OD and Larry, K4PIC who have some
contacts and ideas to help us out.
