There are still some  contesters who work traffic in the "system."  Both
John, K4BAI, and I work traffic through the GSN, where I am a net control
station, 4RN rep and EAN rep. I often hear calls I know from contesting in
the traffic system, especially at the 4RN and EAN level. My first effort in
the Georgia State Net was in the 1960s. John had been active for several
years when I first started traffic handling.
