Hello all:

This weekend has a contest for almost everybody or maybe more than one
for everybody. I will not summarize rules for the ARRL 10 ghz and up
contest or the South African UHF/VHF contest, as I don't know that any
of us can work those contests.

We have the Scandinavian Activity Contest, CW; a collegiate QSO Party;
the QCWA QSO Party (talk about contrasts); a Mediterranean Island Award
Contest; two state QSO Party, NA Sprint SSB, a QRP contest and a two
meter contest on Monday night.

1. Scandinavian Activity Contest (SAC) CW. Sat 12Z to Sun 12Z. 80-10
M CW. RST + serial #. Work only Scandinavians (JW, JX, LA, LB, LG, LJ<
LN< OF-OI (Including OF-OI0), OJ0, OX, OY, OZ, SB-SD, SI-SM, 7S, 8S, TF.
high power, low power, QRP categories. No QSOs above 3560 or 14060. In
your e-mail log subject line include mode, your call, and category
(e.g., SOMBHP). http://www.sk3bg.se/contest/sacnsc.htm.

2. Collegiate QSO Party. 12 Z Sat to 04 Z Sun. CW/Ph/Digital.

individual's callsign must register in advance. Spotting net usage OK.
College stations are encouraged to use the following letters after
their callsigns: U for university, C for college, T for technical
school, V for vocational school. Suggested frequencies: CW: 1805, 20
t0 50 khz up. SSB: 1845, 3850-3950, 7200-7300, 14200-14280,
21350-21450, 28300-28400. Sample Log Sheets, Summary Sheets, and Dupe
Sheets may be downloaded from the webpage. Bonus points for QSOs with
W4C. http://www.qth.com/collegiate/qsopartyrules.htm.

3. Mediterranean Islands Award Contest. 12Z Sat to 12Z Sun. 80-10M.
CW or SSB or Mixed. 80-10M. RS(T) + Med Island Award Reference # or
RS(T) plus "Progress #." I don't understand the rule about "progress
number" and WA7BNM says send serial number, so if you don't understand
the progress number either, just send a serial number.

summary sheet and county check list may be downloaded from webpage.

the usual NA Sprint QSY rule. http://www.ncjweb.com/sprintrules.php.

  4 character grid square. http://svhfs.org/fall_sprint_rules.htm.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend and a lot of QSOs. A nice thing to do
on break from picking up debris in the yard and repairing whatever needs
it. Hope everyone has commercial power back by now and is out of danger
from flooding.

73,

John, K4BAI.
