Hello all:
This weekend brings us two VHF contests, with an overlap on 6 meters and
the NAQP RTTY contest. Six meters could be good this weekend as we have
had very good six meter openings lately. I heard CO8LY on 50.126 for a
long time last night. Maybe by next year, I will have my two meter all
mode station going to more fully enjoy CQ VHF and maybe I can get set up
to do RTTY just in case VHF conditions are a bust. Hope everyone has a
good time and a lot of QSOs this weekend. Don't forget that the next
weekend will be the big (IOTA) island contest in which everyone can work
everyone else.
1. Mid Summer 6 Club Contest, 23Z Fri to 03Z Sun. This will overlap
the first 9 hours of the 6 meter part of the CQ WW VHF Contest.
Exchange: 4 character grid square (example: EM72). 6 meter club
number may be sent as an optional item, but you must be a member of that
club to receive the "major" awards. http://6mt.com/contest.htm.
2. NAQP RTTY Contest. 18Z Sat to 06Z Sun. You may operate a maximum
of 10 out of the 12 hours. 80 - 10 M. (WA7BNM says 160-10 M, but this
is an error, as the rules say no 160 M on RTTY mode.) Exchange: Name
and State or Province for US, VE, and other NA. For outside NA (except
Hawaii), Name only is required. If your software insists on an entry for
the DX station, just enter "DX." Multipliers count per band so there is
a lot of QSYing. http://www.ncjweb.com/naqprules.php. Don't forget
that the rules now require log submission within 14 days.
3. CQ WW VHF Contest, 18Z Sat to 21Z Sun. 6 and 2 meters. Exchange:
4 character grid square.
