Hello all:
There are a lot of contests this weekend, if you can tear yourselves
away from yardwork. There are two worldwide contests running at the sme
time. One is both CW and SSB and the other is just CW. The mixed mode
contest requires ITU zones and the CW only one requires CQ zones. To
try to help you keep it all straight and have a little fun, I offer the
following summary:
1. European Spring Sprint, CW. Sat. Apr 17. 15 to 1859 UTC. 80 - 20,
but 20 is the only practical band for us during these hours. 14050
suggested center frequency. Exchange, both callsigns, Serial # (no RST
required) and Name. 2 khz QSY rule for the one who solicitied the QSO.
High and low power categories. 20 meters may be better at this time
than it has been in recent years due to the declining sunspot cycle.

2. TARA Skirmish Digital Prefix Contest. All types of digital modes
including RTTY and PSK. Separate logs required for each "parent mode."
Meaning put all types of PSK in one log, all types of RTTY in one log,
etc. 00 to 24 UTC Sat, Feb 17. Exchange: Name and Prefix. 160 - 50
M. There is a power mult. Mults (prefixes) are counted once per parent
mode, not per mode and band (as erroneously reported elsewhere).

3. YU DX Contest. 12 UTC Sat to 12 UTC Sun. 160 - 10 M SSB and CW.
Exchange RS(T) plus ITU Zone number. (Most of us are in zone 08.) Mults
are per band and not per band and mode. Mults are ITU zones and YU
prefixes. Everyone can work everyone. Recommended to use the IARU RS
format in your logging program.

4. GACW CW DX Contest. 12 UTC Sat to 12 UTC Sun. 80 - 10 M. CW only.
Exchange: RST + CQ zone #. (Most of us are in zone 05; AL stations are
in zone 04.) Everyone can work everyone else. You can use the CQWW
format in your logging program.
5. Michigan QSO Party. 16 UTC Sat to 04 UTC Sun. 80 - 10 CW/SSB.
Exchange: Serial # plus Michigan county or SPC. Suggested QRG: up 45
on CW. SSB: 3850, 7225, 14250, 21300, 28450. Suggested be on 10 M on
even numbered daylight hours and on 15 meters on odd numbered daylight
hours. SSB on the hour and CW on teh half hour. No county line
operating permitted. Lots of Michigan guys supported us in the GQP last
weekend. This one will turn out a lot of mobiles and fixed stations

6. Holyland (Israel) DX Contest. Sat 00 Z to 2359Z. CW and SSB. Work
only Israel stations, once on each band and mode. Exchange: RS(T) +
QSO number. Israeli stations send RST and their area (something like

7. EA QRP Contest. 17 to 23 Z Sat and 07 to 13 Z Sun. 80 - 10 M CW.
Exchange: RST + EA QRP number or RST + EA province (for EA non members)
and RST + serial # for non EA stations).

8. Ontario QSO Party. 18 Z Sat to 18 Z Sun. 160 through VHF.
Suggested frequencies: CW up 30 khz. SSB: 1870, 3860, 7260, 14265,
21260, 28360. Also 50.130. Suggested SSB on hour and CW on half hour,
VHF at quarter past hour. Extra points for VHF and for QSOs with VE3ODX
and VA3RAC. Exchange: RS(T) plus Ontario county, district, city, etc.
Others: RST plus SPC. We had a lot of support in GQP from Ontario
stations too.
