All,
The cluster now seems to be running better. I am demo'ing the AR Cluster
software. As of this moment there are six folks connected; two from
Alabama....(not counting K4VT who is in extreme eastern Alabama HI)
Though we've tried a few different things, the best way to connect on 145.01
continues to be "c sawnee" wait for the Sawnee alphabet soup to come across
your screen, then "c ax1 ks4q" If you have trouble with Sawnee
responsiveness to your "c sawnee" command, it is probably because it thinks
you are already connected... perhaps because you did not log out of Sawnee
properly. DO try to log out properly...this means two separate and
consecutive 'bye' commands. Whatever you do, don't just turn off your TNC
or you may have trouble getting back in.
I'll be resetting Sawnee late this evening, which will bump every one off,
but it is necessary to do one or twice a week to keep it from getting
sluggish. I'll put out an announcement on the cluster before I do this.
Right now, spots are coming through at 95 per hour though some of these are
European and are filtered. I currently have the European talk messages
turned off as well because I got tired of the cursing and 'flaming' going
back and forth. They use system wide talk messages like it is an Internet
chat room.
I've adjusted some of my parameters and this has helped connectivity; the
real Alabama users have been connected now for 12 hours. If you have a
decent signal and can hear Sawnee well, you should be able to get it.
If you want to look at a user manual for the cluster, go to:
www.ab5k.net and look for the user manual.
Regards, Erne KS4Q
