2T uses better filters which take more time in DSP and then it adds some
more time so it can average the stop and start signals to obtain better
start stop synchronisation.

Of course when signals are good there is no need for these features as the
signal is good, but when it is marginal then it makes the difference between
making a Q with no repeats and not making a Q.

I personally do not worry about the delay as the biggest time wasters are
those who send M7T DE HISCALL TNX FER QSO exchange 73 GL GD DX etc. Oh no.
But then I am preaching to the converted on this reflector.

I think I got more 5NN this time than ever before with an unnecessary shift
character - this is RTTY not CW.

By the way I made 1600 Qs, 750 prefixes and over 4Million points and that
was after I spent 3 hours fixing an amplifier that failed right at the start
of the contest even though I had tested it the evening before - such is
life. Without that probably would have near 2000 Qs. Although it is called a
prefix contest it is actually a rate contest due to the scoring system.

I agree that 2Tone is a very valuable asset. It seems to copy numbers
especially well. I also found that if 2Tone puts something in brackets, you
can take it to the bank.

On the other hand, MMTTY on occasion copies something better, and MMTTY is
faster, so I usually leave the mouse pointer hanging out on the MMTTY
screen.

Having both programs running simultaneously is invaluable!

G3YYD's 2 Tone saved many a contact this past weekend. Thanks David.
