OK maybe I am a bit naive but what exactly is a skimmer?
This coming weekend I will be taking my mast down for some seriously
needed guy rope replacement. Then maybe I can get something up for 30,
17 and 12 meters. 17 and 12 meters, I have never operated on before.

There needs to be some way to let people know in real time, while
operating, that you are using a skimmer. Maybe just say so periodically,
although
if your signal is weak it might be confusing to anyone with poor copy.

I attempted to advertise the use of skimmer and sticking on frequency
through email to the reflectors, and via telnet spots. But virtually no
one
observed it and the rate was actually poor despite its potential.
I think if more dxpeditions used RTTY skimmer and advertised that fact it
would end up making for much higher Q rates. In addition to the general
need to have dxpediton ops who actually had some serious RTTY experience
but
that's a different subject.
