On 160 especially, there is a low level of stations which I can hear
weakly but just can not copy. This is not a good band for low power,
unlike the higher bands. Most of my 160 Q's were out to about 1500
miles or less, but there were a few east coast stations too. Had a
pipeline into Texas, Washington State and Oregon. :-)
QTH here is just north of Palm Springs, about 100 miles east of Los
Angeles.
Here's a breakdown of what I have done so far:
Band QSOs Pts Mlt
1.8 115 115 4
3.5 57 57 3
7 161 161 4
10 116 116 14
14 160 160 25
18 271 271 8
21 134 134 20
24 123 123 20
28 201 201 20
Total 1338 1338 118
All on RTTY.
I still have two two-hour slots to do today, probably on 17 and 12
meters.
This has been great fun, one of the best experiences of my ham career.
Something like this comes along only once in a lifetime.
I'll never forget it.
