Just one thing I would add here.

A few years ago, a well known contester did a CW contest *without*
sending RST as part of his exchange, even though one was required by
the rules of that particular contest.  This raised a bit of a storm on
the CQ-Contest reflector - the thinking being he shaved a few seconds
off every QSO, and in doing so, he cheated.  The result being - he
ended up submitting a check-log instead of being one of the top
finishers.

Follow the rules, and everyone goes away happy.  If you don't like the
rules, don't play OR have the contest sponsor change the rules.
