Just some blowing off steam because its not being done their way Bill.
It happens on all modes, all contests. You get the casual ops who are looking
for:
states, counties, countries, wpx, or just making a few q's. Some even know they
are fresh meat, and they can have some fun. They're not "contesters", but they
get
on giving Q's to the masses while looking for what they need. If you hear
someone
nervous as hell or the squeaky voice on ssb, or signing / interim whatever, be
patient.
(I know the digital crowd doesn't hear the nervousness.. say hi, congrats on
upgrade, etc)
This might be this person's 1st qso, or contest exchange... I want them to keep
coming back...
come work me every time you hear or see me. If they send you a card, send them
one back,
maybe with a note on suggestions on how to improve their efficiency.
.
But please don't belittle them. It might be their 1st, and last time they get
OTA.
Where would a "runner" be on Sunday if the after church or football crowds
don't show up?
Do some of them slow your rate down.. sure. But its a Q, and possibly a mult...
Current attitudes and trends in contesting are going to exact a toll on us,
and its not going to be good for most.

Subject: [RTTY] why bother?
Simply because with my cardiac arteries and other problems, I'll
take all the GL anyone wishes to give me.
I've won a couple, didn't even come close in most, but never been in a
contest where someone
wishing me good luck cost me the win.
and...politically, if there person who wished you good luck read that
email, pretty sure that would be 5 qso you wouldn't get next contest.
and...if I ever become like the 80 meter SSB guys, I sure hope someone
comes and helps me decend from my tower @ 32'/sec/sec
