eQSL does automatically match contacts if both parties upload logs and
everything "lines up". These appear in your eQSL inbox as (already)
"confirmed" contacts. Requests from others that do not match your
uploaded logs show up in your inbox too, but with options to confirm,
send a clarification the other party, or reject.
eQSLs wouldn't count towards an award unless the contact was confirmed,
either automatically, by matching of logs, or manually, by the other
party clicking on "Confirm". In other words, there does have to be some
positive action by the other party before the contact is valid.
I do agree that this system is open to trolling, where LoTW is not.
