Hi Ed P49X (W0TK),
I am testing a beta version of RUMped for Mac OSX by Tom
DL2RUM. By design his software needs to log the zone first
followed by the state that may be counter to the CQ WW RTTY
rule.
By default RUMped prepares the Cabrillo in the same format
as you provided showing CALL 599 04 TX. When we first
discovered this potential issue, three of us sent sample .cbr
logs to Paolo, I2UIY-NH7DX, to see if the 599 04 TX format
would be acceptable.
Paolo has not replied so Tom, DL2RUM, patched RUMped. We
now have to log QSO's as 03 CA, or whatever, and the software
will format the Cabrillo correct.
BTW, it handles DX fine because they are only required to send
the report and their zone. For example, it the practice run my
Cabrillo report for KG4SS shows 599 08 DX
When W6WRT called me I had to log his report as 03 CA but
the resulting .cbr file was
QSO: 14000 RY 2008-09-26 0209 AA5VU 599 TX 04 W6WRT 599 CA
03 0
My sending macro was easy to adjust and I will be sending
599 TX 04.... in the format that I assume others expect to see.
If this gets too hard, I will just quit the beta software and have
fun in the contest using W7AY's cocoaModem software that will
let me work the contest; however it does not log both numbers
and states. I will log zones and just have fun and not worry with
sending a log to the CQ robot. I will be able to upload all QSO's
to LoTW.
Hope to work you in the contest!
