It isn't really fair that most hams use computers, logging software, digital
clocks, and big antennas.
I'm using an attic dipole, a single receiver from the 1960s, low power and a
Teletype machine. How can I be expected to win these test, or even score in
the top ten.
I suggest that we go with the lowest common denominator approach for all
future RTTY contests by mandating that everyone must use an electromechanical
teleprinter, a single analog clock, no computers, and a scoring penalty for
any
antenna that exhibits gain over a dipole.
Since it will be difficult to police these new rules, I suggest that we
invest in a group of hams who will act as RTTY contest police with the mandate
to
visit all hams who sign up in advance to participate in the contest.
For me, I'll sit out the next test and volunteer to be a member of the RTTY
contest police force requesting an assignment in WAZ zone 32.
