My respects to the departed. It is not the most selective, but it does come
thru in a pinch. May I suggest the good old Icom 706 MKIIG for a good
standby rig? It is not a contest high dollar rig. It is however, a good all
around rig. Put some filters in there, it will help. I have one of these
rigs. It has been over 100 d F, it will keep on going, the display will
fade, yet, it will transmit. It has been freezing, it will still work. See
if someone nearby might part with one. They are easy to interface to your
logging program. I have made several interfaces and they work FB. Worked
lots of stations using the 706. In my travels with this rig, I have not
been able to defeat it. It keeps on working as long as you give it the
proper DC.
