Are you saying your mark tone was 2070?? Offset usually refers to the
differnce between the SSB dial reading when the AFSK signal is properly
tuned and the actual frequency, often off 2125 Hz depending on the
receiving station's rig setup. The standard PK-232 uses a 200 Hz shift
for both pactor and RTTY, but I don't think this is what you're
referring to.
Can you provide more specific details about what you were told and what
