The BARTG Sprint contest is coming up very soon and you will need to
submit your logs in Cabrillo format.
A new version of MMTTY came out a couple of weeks ago and it supports
both the BARTG contests. I have checked this myself and found that
although it will log all the required information, the format of the
Cabrillo logs produced is incorrect. The method of producing Cabrillo
logs for any contest with MMTTY is very unsafe, as it depends on the
user correctly typing and spacing certain critical text.
In short, if you are using MMTTY alone for the BARTG contests, you
really need the WT4I Cabrillo Tools software to produce a correct log
after the test. If you are using the MMTTY RTTY engine as part of a good
contest package such as Writelog then you have no problem. Some other
software such as Mix-W has so far never been able to produce a good log
for our contests.
The time to check these things is well before the contest (now!). If you
are unsure about the correct format have a look at the BARTG website
www.bartg.demon.co.uk where sample logs can be found. You are also
welcome to send me a short sample log (just 2 contacts will do) from
your software, and I will check it for you, but please do this very soon
... no later than 18th January.
Software writers .. send me a good sample log and I will put you on the
"BARTG approved" list before our contests.
Cheers
