The installer wasn't responsive initially, until I tracked down a
contact person and persisted in trying to contact her. I think the ARRL
made contact with Generac, as well.

A few weeks ago, I tracked the source of 14 MHz interference to a neighbor's Generac
solar system about 0.4 miles away. After I contacted the local installer, this morning I got a
call from a Generac representative, John. (He also mentioned contact with the ARRL.) He told me
the system has been disabled pending installation of new "optimizers", which are on
back order until October. The homeowners are being compensated for loss of solar production in
the meantime.
Optimizers are boost converters connected between each string of panels and the
central inverter. John claimed to have had experience with similar situations
and felt that the source of the interference was the optimizers, rather than
the central inverter. He also seemed to be familiar with other mitigation
measures, such as installation of ferrite cores on interconnecting cables. In
any case, we will perform a test after the new optimizers are installed, and go
from there.
