I retired form the power industry in 1995, Detroit Edison to be exact. I was
supervising engineer of their radio/microwave/voice/data engineering operation
there as my final function. In about 1992-3, enginnering and marketing folks
from Metricom approached me to get my opinion in how successful I think they
would be in contacting other areas of our company to place their boxes on our
street light standards. They were definitely employees of Metricom and they
were on the infancy of placing their devices. I dont recall where the boxes
ended
up, what systems etc, but not on ours.
