A UPI article, "Radio operators fight powerline broadband," carried 9 January
in the Washington Times, about objections to BPL, says, "...representatives of
the BPL industry say they can't find interference caused by their systems."
Whoever says that, is not looking very hard; interference has indeed been
found. And despite some vendors' touting "successful field trials" in Europe,
the latest news from Austria is that BPL interference to International Red
Cross communications, short wave reception and Amateur Radio, will shut down
BPL there.
The American Radio Relay League's Web page says: "Shortwave broadcaster Radio
Austria's futureZone service says the case that brought the issue to a head was
a Red Cross report that emergency services radio traffic during a disaster
response drill last May was the victim of massive BPL interference. "
