Hi Darryl,
I've had computer/RFI problems in the shack for the past few years. =
Problems always appear when I use a pc case that has poor quality =
construction and no continuity fingers between the chassis and the =
cover. Make sure when you have your pc bolted together, there is metal =
to metal contact between the two halves. ANoher problem I had was with =
RF sneaking out of the PC through the AC cord. The pc powersupply is a =
switching type. I was able to pick up a neat AC line RFI filter from =
Moser in SanDiego. I had to open the pc's ps and remove the old male =
connector andinstall the new one...BINGO! 70% of the rfi was gone. I =
stopped plugging the monitor into the PC AC supply. BINGO! 10% of the =
noise gone. The balance of the hash came from the monitor, but I was =
able to knock my QRM from S9 to S2.

  Hello=20
I have a serious RF problem. I am trying to run a packet =
station. No big deal? Well I have a 50+ watt Kenwood 261 sitting on my =
desk, That is not very compatible with the 400 MHz home brew computer =
sitting on the floor a mear 5 feet away. The antenna is in the attic =
just above the shack. I do have a grounded ground plane. There is =
about an s-3 of noise on 144.390 is this normal? There appears to the =
same amount of noise all across the 2 meter band. =20
