yes you never know where a band will be open to when it sounds dead. last month i turned around on six at 21:30 est here in Ky. did not hear one beacon. so i just sent a ? and my call on 51.250 and w0rli in wash state came back to me we exchanged calls rst and name took us about 3 mins to get it all in because of deep qsb but we did get have a cw qso and with the distance between up it figure it was F2 ?. Also for the past few months i would tune up on 21.315 about 19:00est when 20 mts started dropping out here and would hear a weak signal with the 4 ele quad west. turning it longpath east the signals would come up to s5 and peak s9 from VK and ZL. during the contacts i would ask them which way they were looking and they were alway looking east to K6. when they went West i would lose them same if i went West.
