My ssb settings essentially agree with Barry G, Bill and Eric. I used my
Orion set at 1800 hz bw and 1.8 roofing filter all last weekend. I prefer
to start AGC at 191 db and lower it until band noise comes up. Easier than
going the other way. not sure if it is more/less accurate but "works for me"
Using a Heil HC4 element I set processor at "4" and mic gain at "65" and I
have never messed with equalization. Audio reports, unsolicited, are always
good. Toughest part is setting power output so I do not overdrive my amps.
Easy to forget during the heat of battle. My Alpha 78 needs about 50 watts
for 1.5kw except on 15 where it needs 75 and my Titan 425 needs only 30-35.
Hope in future release the pwr setting can be set independently for each
output. Wishful thinking perhaps but....73 bob de w9ge
