thank you for the clarifications and my excuses to everybody by asking
such a newbie question. that's because I used to install karlnet firmware
(a few, so far) on new boards, this being the first time I got my hands on
a used one without it's password to play with (I'm lucky, I guess)
also, this was my first time needing a forced reload (thanks to Bill Fisher
for publishing the article about forced reload on wispnotes.com site) to
"upgrade" an WP-II with its original firmware instead of replacing it
with karlnet's. I had no clue, thus asked, and shame on me for that!
the unit was successfully reflashed and is working OK with 3.95 kernel

now that AP500 and AP1000 are EOLd, as orinoco silver with external
antennae connectors, too, I wish Karlnet rethink the license prices for
AP500/RGs, lowering it a bit, as they have only one slot instead of 2
on AP1000 (so the AP1000 license became cheaper because you can
use it twice on the same hardware, one for each port)
something like $50 (SOHO1) US$65 (SOHO5) US$99 (SAT) and US$199 (BASE)
for AP500/RG1000 licenses ...
to dream doesn't hurt, does it? ;-)
Cheers (and thanks!)
