Has anyone put up a Karlnet system using hardware other than Lucent AP's or RG's and had a STABLE system (no reboots needed for months at a time)??? Hello, If your definition of stable is no reboots, we have over 100 units deployed in the field that never require reboots. Combination of Lucent AP1000s, WavePointIIe's, Karlnet flashroms and every reseller's version of the RG (Hyperlink SR2400, Microroute WaveWan25, Demarctech RWK-CIDN; these are all the same guts when you open the case). Our network is using 3.88 and 4.02 software on any given platform, using mostly Orinoco cards, with a few exceptional new Prism 2.5 cards we got from Demarctech. We never ever ever reboot any customer sites or bases, other than to upgrade or change a config parameter. We don't have any CPE or base station "lockups" as people describe them. We do have one operational problem that is site specific (the base station will continually retransmit to the same satellite for several minutes, essentially hogging all resources and stopping all IP transfer to other capable satellites), however Karlnet has never admitted to the existence of this. Increasing (via software) the sensitivity of the faulty satellite is our current workaround and seems to work ok. Chris |
