I fixed the crash at the same time in 9.41.

This is the same experience I had - WRITELOG crashed the program running in
a DOS window under WinNT.  I did not try it on real DOS, since I was at
work at the time.  I have used WRITELOG hundreds of times in this
configuration.  In fact, I had to do this for almost 100 logs to help K8CC
out of some of his problems.  Used 9.27, no problem at all.  The problem
seems peculiar to 9.40.
