For the past while I seem to get about one a week. This morning (Saturday)
I actually got 4 overnight-and 2 were from the same guy/gal - what the
heck?!

A vy small PITA to "deal with" but a small PITA nonetheless.

My opinion is that they are nothing at all remotely like getting a paper QSL
card from when we were young and newly licensed (for most reading this),
decades ago. Those cards took time/effort to fill
out/envelope/stamp/money/travel to a post office in most cases, to get in
the postal mail system.

These all seem to be auto-generated by some kind of bot service after (I'm
presuming) uploading your .adif or Cabrillo file somewhere. There is no
hint of a personal element remaining in this latest round of QSL <ahem>
"exchanging".

My prediction is that in 25yrs there won't be any more human element
remaining in ham radio or contesting beyond insuring electricity is going to
the shack (but even that'll be automated).(Will we even have shacks?)

We'll just check some flatscreen on our refrigerator door (or in our
bathroom mirror) in the morning to see how we placed in the contest and how
many people QSL'd back (by email or searchable webpage) ~1 second after
23:59:59Z Sunday night.

Sad.

Thanks for those that suggested unsubscribing. I love that you have to

"unsubscribe" from something you never "subscribed" to in the first place.
It

will be interesting to see how much of this is "bot" activity rather than
real

people sending the equivalent of old fashion confirming of a meaningful QSO.
