This reminds me that it is almost 50 years, to the day since, I had
lunch with Ed Reddington W4ZM, Stu Meyer W2GHK/4 and Vic Clark W4KFC.
What a trio and what a privilege for someone newly licensed. (just 7-years)

On August 10, 1973, I received my Novice license and called my first
CQ. (You were supposed to log your CQ's back then and I dutifully
logged my first CQ on 80 M. LOL!)
 50 years, all 340 countries and some 1,000,000+ qso's later, I can
truthfully say that this is the most amazing hobby with some of the
most amazing people that I have ever met. Radio and Contesting have
become so inextricably intertwined with my life, that it is
impossible to imagine how different and poorer it would have been
without them, and without the countless friendships that I have made
and experiences that I have had.
Thank you all for being a part of it!
