Makes my point about the contest being dumb! The answer to the first question says it doesn't matter what I copy, or that I actually copy anything more than their call. And the answer to the second says that the other station doesn't even have to be in the contest or send the correct exchange.

Contests should be entirely about what happens on the air, and what happens on the air should be a challenge. SS is a challenge. WPX, NAQP, CW Sprints are a challenge.

Log the zone based on their location.

Q: A station gives me a serial number vs. the correct CQ Zone in their
exchange. What should I log?

You should always log what you receive. Stations sending incorrect exchanges
(e.g., serial numbers, ITU zones, etc.) are flagged by tbe log checking
software. In this case as a result, you will not lose the QSO.
